A digital one though, not a real world one.<br />
<br />
I enjoy using wordpress far much more then the blogger platform - wordpress is far more powerful as far as content manipulation goes - and thus I am very tempted to move this blog from here to <a href="http://nails.beccaferry.com/">http://nails.beccaferry.com</a>.<br />
<br />
This would, however, mean that I would be no longer able to offer google friend connect as a method of following my blog, but you would still be able to follow my blog through your blogger dashboard by manually adding my URL to your followed blogs.<br />
<br />
I'll be moving completely over to my new address - <a href="http://nails.beccaferry.com/">http://nails.beccaferry.com</a> - as of the 1st of Feb. Until then everything will be posted to both here on blogger and there on wordpress.<br />
<br />
Thank you all for following me, you're all so kind! :DAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18074760825560196658noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385072856915954507.post-67212493904963293152015-01-11T21:49:00.000+00:002015-01-11T21:49:19.441+00:00Pick N Mix Week 15 - Dotting Tools / Pink & AquaI'm really fond of odd colour combinations. Orange and blue, purple and green (Hulk smash), and pink and aqua.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE7HO0JLRPUjKg0uqrtCTOrBY9gOGdFAkMfSAxmJFOtTwknyff-r7Ez7CHvGWPfeGqx26h7Ox0xT-RzXEXkdD_xOU2oy2PBYRGQsSjoZZtRRohx3TCpqcDwCVTxWdxoQ-H863fyvUrgCJw/s1600/cnt_w15_4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE7HO0JLRPUjKg0uqrtCTOrBY9gOGdFAkMfSAxmJFOtTwknyff-r7Ez7CHvGWPfeGqx26h7Ox0xT-RzXEXkdD_xOU2oy2PBYRGQsSjoZZtRRohx3TCpqcDwCVTxWdxoQ-H863fyvUrgCJw/s1600/cnt_w15_4.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Alas, my aqua turned out a little more green that I wanted.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>The polishes used for this mani were Essie's Turquoise and Caicos, A England's Rose Bower and OPI Alpine Snow for the base.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1nHhzY85ldDkz8ie7UxWajyexduSgjdl8dyndgNIwdaReSIpqc2nY9Y14yW8lyL2FxVJK0tZnkATYLY-G5VQvibiY-sTpWF_Gu9zr06oeJMiMAUa1SMjnPYRm4m1oXCf9jr5SNBDd7sK7/s1600/cnt_w15_2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1nHhzY85ldDkz8ie7UxWajyexduSgjdl8dyndgNIwdaReSIpqc2nY9Y14yW8lyL2FxVJK0tZnkATYLY-G5VQvibiY-sTpWF_Gu9zr06oeJMiMAUa1SMjnPYRm4m1oXCf9jr5SNBDd7sK7/s1600/cnt_w15_2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to say I really like Alpine Snow, its a fantastic white. Covered and flat in two coats, I think this might replace my previous go-to white base which was Models Own Hypergel in White Light. I still use Sinful Colors Snow me White for nail art though, as it goes wonderfully thick and is great for painting on little details.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRhkI_4Bwy2OEYhFY2cdLBfe31wyfIXT8yuM4I-LgDwWgff00jGB1KXKxJW4U7cKopymjrp5KB68bDwGf3aT7OBTXQ7mwG4fNtM-Fj1zN-gp0tVk0oiCAmQfQ5FOu2_Siab4nsjxgI1y8u/s1600/cnt_w15_3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRhkI_4Bwy2OEYhFY2cdLBfe31wyfIXT8yuM4I-LgDwWgff00jGB1KXKxJW4U7cKopymjrp5KB68bDwGf3aT7OBTXQ7mwG4fNtM-Fj1zN-gp0tVk0oiCAmQfQ5FOu2_Siab4nsjxgI1y8u/s1600/cnt_w15_3.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Turquoise and Caicos stamped really well, which I was suprised at for a polish that is normally so sheer. Rose Bower was a little reluctant, but it got there in the end bless it.<br />
<br />
These nails were stamped using MoYou London's Pro 14 plate, with the orchid design on the bottom row.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I love MoYou London's plates, they're really my favourite of the stamping plates I've tried so far - but I have only tried three different brands!<br />
<br />
Do any of you have any stamping brand recommendations? And do you like this week's mani?<br />

Unicorns are Christmas-y, right?<br />

Ah, who cares. Unicorns are good any time of year.<br />

They're basically little, flat metal shapes which is great for those of us who have very curved nails - if you place them on your nails before you paint them you can bend them to suit your curve. This is an absolute godesend for anyone who knows the pain of trying to use a charm and finding it sticks off the edges of oouor nails.</div>

<br />
The base for this mani is Femme Fatale's Shadeling. This is such an amazing and complicated polish I could really dedicate an entire post to just swatches of it. However, there is one downside to this immense complexity of colour - it was a complete trauma to photograph! What you can't quite see in these photos is the holo rainbow - there is a lovely rainbow flash to this polish that is very camera shy.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will say that after I had bent the charms to the shape of my nail I didn't even boter to glue them down - a teeny drop of top coat to stick them in place then I just top coated over them. With them being adjusted to the shape of my nail I found that I didn't need the extra sticking power that nail glue provides.</div>

<br />
Instead of doing a series of posts for my catch up manis for the 52 week challenge, I'm putting them together in one giant post!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNch9LiJDeELW8bXP6efGJC5xwX3V7qDMcd7R2ddjmGhGEF25BjtTjwiNIraWpK2imPYy0iKM8CLTrUX_3VBPK57rssilETPN_ZIJcbC0nKQmgAoVgpqtEOYzxP5twLsS6t1_SqBKoRDlH/s1600/Photo+29-12-2014+14+25+56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNch9LiJDeELW8bXP6efGJC5xwX3V7qDMcd7R2ddjmGhGEF25BjtTjwiNIraWpK2imPYy0iKM8CLTrUX_3VBPK57rssilETPN_ZIJcbC0nKQmgAoVgpqtEOYzxP5twLsS6t1_SqBKoRDlH/s1600/Photo+29-12-2014+14+25+56.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><b>Week 9 - Brush Stroke / Favourite Brand</b><br />
<br />
I totally cheated for this week - I couldn't pick just one favourite brand. So I went for my two mainstream favourites - <b>OPI </b> & <b>China Glaze</b>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOIBYO4I70SUofErI6aV92YHTRFg1PHbmpIXEbIRVUZgpGAK898XxXKG-o6sTQKkdAtOhDMmn_el1KsramHxGAME1kJ5DHnw-DqjuSkaQxcpwKfl5JdHUVSqMgIHPj-oCb2dLYrwfR53Ew/s1600/favbrand2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOIBYO4I70SUofErI6aV92YHTRFg1PHbmpIXEbIRVUZgpGAK898XxXKG-o6sTQKkdAtOhDMmn_el1KsramHxGAME1kJ5DHnw-DqjuSkaQxcpwKfl5JdHUVSqMgIHPj-oCb2dLYrwfR53Ew/s1600/favbrand2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The polishes for the base of this mani are OPI How Great is my Dane and Christmas gone Plaid. I love both the Nordic and Holiday collections from OPI this year, even if the Holiday collection did contain about six million red polishes.<br />
<br />
How Great is my Dane is a lovely chocolate brown, completely opaque in two coats and wonderfully smooth. Christmas gone Plaid has the same formula, but I was a little wary of letting it near my cuticles or leaving the polish on too long - its very pigmented and I really feared staining!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifXiJi2w0DD2em5pn1LC8c3gx90-WOzcQq2TW9EySUXn8eybw0dyouBMtLhwuufebflSiyUBGaYwYia_qmUtbfVdIbhoYjtkGc9wIYd01gfKfLLJgD9WKFaJDKBdCtmgdMf4AnJtwsVOmu/s1600/favbrand1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifXiJi2w0DD2em5pn1LC8c3gx90-WOzcQq2TW9EySUXn8eybw0dyouBMtLhwuufebflSiyUBGaYwYia_qmUtbfVdIbhoYjtkGc9wIYd01gfKfLLJgD9WKFaJDKBdCtmgdMf4AnJtwsVOmu/s1600/favbrand1.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The toppers are from my second favourite brand - China Glaze. The holo dust is the best glitter topper known to man - Fairy Dust. Three days in to a mani and getting bored? Fairy Dust! Want to fancy up a swatch? Fairy Dust! Need more sparkle? <b>Fairy Dust!!!</b> The white snowy topper is Chillin' with my Snow-mies, from the Twinkle collection. I love the mix of glitter sizes in this topper, its fantastic.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Week 10 - Camouflage / Dark Green</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixk6QIcF8rHOnIm7ar6DCxwj-jCPNxsN_wl0VHmjeinPU8_RdzWuwR1cpfBzQqNhUdUM-6F-VNq_jC_EtAxO25dG_tI__0-ndXh48bT6t_xLzX8nhiwiRWQJQM_J44YZamwAf5u-hytq98/s1600/darkgreen2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixk6QIcF8rHOnIm7ar6DCxwj-jCPNxsN_wl0VHmjeinPU8_RdzWuwR1cpfBzQqNhUdUM-6F-VNq_jC_EtAxO25dG_tI__0-ndXh48bT6t_xLzX8nhiwiRWQJQM_J44YZamwAf5u-hytq98/s1600/darkgreen2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It was a toss up for my favourite dark green between OPI Live and Let Die and this polish, which is China Glaze Glittering Garland. I picked this up a couple of years ago as a bargain in TKMaxx, along with the full coverage glitter Glistening Snow.<br />
<br />
I decided to go for a Christmas theme for this one as I couldn't resist using this green for a Christmas Tree. Its just so festive!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAWIFwgaCP_12Tlgcj__K0Ium8PrZPdF3dxth5ZTL6wz5NbpTdksxe6mMAgKm9F-8F_EshcZ9089zyvC5SB2mPJaO5IKWFagQg-CLxhbeRcAR-3yv8K6UrFX-pwFIXA_x51_gUT8bAhh5r/s1600/darkgreen1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAWIFwgaCP_12Tlgcj__K0Ium8PrZPdF3dxth5ZTL6wz5NbpTdksxe6mMAgKm9F-8F_EshcZ9089zyvC5SB2mPJaO5IKWFagQg-CLxhbeRcAR-3yv8K6UrFX-pwFIXA_x51_gUT8bAhh5r/s1600/darkgreen1.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Week 11 - Chevrons / Red & Gold</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I know I painted these, because I remember which polishes I used - bondi Horny Mistress and BarryM Majesty.<br />
<br />
The pictures, however, seem to have disappeared from my camera.<br />
<br />
Massive Fail.<br />
<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Week 12 - Crinkly Tape / Glitter Topper</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I'm not one for loads of glitter, I'm lazy and hate the removal, so this mani didn't stay on long.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE9oN1dWhrpSx4XumA9elzV6hq4AFacDPnpqLyCMgqO0ilZHhk-flCcBqqWRvb4QRbrOPGqp7sk-JTvIKlrTNZY5QeNqrpDiPcRlZ2o1pfbJ6Rh_z564DCSZlvLNVU5Hmsv074Whc1p4zy/s1600/holly2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE9oN1dWhrpSx4XumA9elzV6hq4AFacDPnpqLyCMgqO0ilZHhk-flCcBqqWRvb4QRbrOPGqp7sk-JTvIKlrTNZY5QeNqrpDiPcRlZ2o1pfbJ6Rh_z564DCSZlvLNVU5Hmsv074Whc1p4zy/s1600/holly2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is Fresh Frog of Bel Air, from OPI's first Muppets collection, over a base of Nails Inc Park Crescent. I was aiming for a deconstructed holly look here, but I kinda feel like the red gems look like spider eyes....<br />

<a href="http://www.bornprettystore.com/" target="_blank">Born Pretty Store</a> kindly provided a few items to me for review in the middle of last month - this is the first of 3 posts showing you these items and how I've chosen to show them off.</div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
I've shopped at Born Pretty for a while now for a lot of nail art items - they've got such an enormous selection its pretty much a given that everyone can find something they like in there. Its like an Aladdins cave. My current clean up brush was bought from here, as were some of my small, thin nail art brushes and you really can't beat the quality for the price they charge. Only snag is delivery takes a while as they're based in Singapore, but its free so its totally worth waiting for.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJoZnVMaord5bKr_1y_acHPtg-Pq9SRYc99A3OyZCz_E7wez129M0OC_QY8nOGb9LslSvO4ZuB_ENl2-vkwyGvMAuZ5H2D9iGyiKwUqP8urgukUhYPbmw9aWotN5ZeXjr-5HNmp5NNuXQM/s1600/whiteandblack1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJoZnVMaord5bKr_1y_acHPtg-Pq9SRYc99A3OyZCz_E7wez129M0OC_QY8nOGb9LslSvO4ZuB_ENl2-vkwyGvMAuZ5H2D9iGyiKwUqP8urgukUhYPbmw9aWotN5ZeXjr-5HNmp5NNuXQM/s1600/whiteandblack1.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These <a href="http://www.bornprettystore.com/230pcsbox-newly-round-rhinestone-flat-back-acrylic-nail-decoration-selling-wheel-p-16674.html" target="_blank">black/duochrome rhinestones</a> were the first thing I went for - I love the duochrome flash on these as the light hits them. As Christmas is coming the first thing that popped in to my head was a Christmas Party look with these - nothing like a bit of bling to add to your party night, right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You get three sizes of rhinestone in the wheel from Born Pretty - I've used the medium and small rhinestones here to create a monochrome sideways french look. The large rhinestones are very large, and I'm pretty sure one would have mostly filled my little fingernail so if you've got very tight C curves or little nails then the biggest rhinestones might not be the greatest things on the planet for you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Base for this mani was Models Own Hyper Gel in White Light. I always use this as a white base if a mani requires it now - its a lovely super shiny polish that covers really well. If you're looking to keep the rhinestones on for more than a few hours I'd really recommend using nail glue, but I just placed them whilst my topcoat was wet and top coated around them to anchor them a little more.</div>

So I went for brown, which is a bit of an under-represented colour in the polish world.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: left;">
This base for this was BarryM Silk Truffle - I love the delicate colours on the first set of silks that BarryM released, and they really were complemented by the matte finish of the polish. Over that I stamped MoYou London Pro Plate 14 with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Coco-a-go-go and BarryM Foil Gold.</div>

<br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love the Moyou London plates to stamp with, even though the designs on some of the plates are quite fine they always seem to stamp really well.</div>

Once again these nails are late to the 52 week Pick N Mix party, but I really wanted to post them because I'm really happy with how they turned out.</div>

Painted yellow, not just stained from too much polish yellow. I think they look super summery as long as you find the right tone of yellow for your skin. If you pick the wrong one you tend just make your hands - and thus by extension, yourself - look a little ill.<br />
<br />
I tried this mani first with pastel yellow and had to change it - I liked the colour, but a) I wasn't sure if it liked me, and b) it got totally overpowered by the dark grey.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtfjjSg3Qd7TblWE1WUBTWUnPVXm8DhHC_SCNnDp_Blnj8xLNZ2zuTigIIkxtky4zE3yDisrhZRU6BYNcIqi_QeuSZaXmDOWxQ7-la7_wF16aHftdp8IusjUUWraNcEYhDZDDj_nRs3piO/s1600/cnt_wk7_3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtfjjSg3Qd7TblWE1WUBTWUnPVXm8DhHC_SCNnDp_Blnj8xLNZ2zuTigIIkxtky4zE3yDisrhZRU6BYNcIqi_QeuSZaXmDOWxQ7-la7_wF16aHftdp8IusjUUWraNcEYhDZDDj_nRs3piO/s1600/cnt_wk7_3.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Just a simple mani this week, this is Nails Inc Notting Hill Carnival for my yellow nails and BarryM Gelly Chai for my two grey nails. I was going to try and do bows but in my practice beforehand things were coming out badly so I stuck to a simple almost french mani.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjarQkW2YdSVpV3Wo7sARoF1Cky5_kvCFHo52nrcmx8VKXUnfVF0ow_saaxqqeRlupvEENClgO1ZO2oo0pSCgFreTsJ1dkcM_pcJwviRp-i-IPAP6MjE0ywtaUq30nVTn_7qBJoE8h3nfg5/s1600/cnt_wk7_2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjarQkW2YdSVpV3Wo7sARoF1Cky5_kvCFHo52nrcmx8VKXUnfVF0ow_saaxqqeRlupvEENClgO1ZO2oo0pSCgFreTsJ1dkcM_pcJwviRp-i-IPAP6MjE0ywtaUq30nVTn_7qBJoE8h3nfg5/s1600/cnt_wk7_2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I do love grey with bright colours, and yellow is no exception. It always makes me think of the early days of spring when things are still all grey and horrible from winter but theres still a bit of spring in the air.<br />

<br />
This is what should have been posted last week, which was domestic animals OR 3 shades of blue.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I went with 3 shades of blue.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
This is actually my second try at 3 shades of blue - my original attempt was full of chevrons and looked great in my head, however I picked the wrong blues and it didn't come out how I'd hoped at all.<br />
<br />

These nails are a base of BarryM Silk Mist on my thumb, pointer and pinky and BarryM Gelly Blue Grape on my middle two fingers. Blue Grape kinda freaked my camera out a bit when I was taking these photos, its so saturated a colour it starts to overpower everything around it a little. </div>

The french tips were done with Dance Legend High Voltage (New Prism 11) which has such a fantastically strong holo rainbow in it. I love the Dance Legend holo polishes, they've got such a strong rainbow to them its just amazing. </div>

I opted for 80s - dark colours will get used enough in the next couple of months anyway. They can wait.<br />
<br />
Neons, on the other hand, can not.<br />
<br />

<br />
I was born in 1986, and whilst I don't remember much of the actual 80s, I remember all the 80s hand-me-down stuff in the family being wonderfully, eye wateringly bright. So thats the vibe I went for with these.<br />
<br />
The polishes used were China Glaze Pool Party, China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and BarryM Summer Limited Edition in green. Alas, as neon as the green looks, it really doesn't pack the same punch as the other two polishes as my handy-dandy blacklight torch shows...<br />
<br />

The black edges were done with my collections of child's craft scissors and plain old scotch tape.<br />

</div>
Despite not actually being any where near born in the 70s, I have this really guilty pleasure for 70s era clothing. I love the earthy colour schemes, and the sometimes quite hideous mustard and brown combos that were frequently seen. And so, inspired by pinterest and all the fabulous 70s clothing on there, I present....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj725tA1cXUH6VPCr2Iy7Wj-WALUnDHNlfHWfMuajwAb3ISKu3217vZjVo5C1I-UGr9G1u3VnTJQ8GRgkZZNH4c8Motxk0wLytjLQZaejmrlcxiaV5OQrMrCwhHx783pzKHbOFD5al7H4w0/s1600/cnt_wk4_1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj725tA1cXUH6VPCr2Iy7Wj-WALUnDHNlfHWfMuajwAb3ISKu3217vZjVo5C1I-UGr9G1u3VnTJQ8GRgkZZNH4c8Motxk0wLytjLQZaejmrlcxiaV5OQrMrCwhHx783pzKHbOFD5al7H4w0/s1600/cnt_wk4_1.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
... 70s sweater vest nails!</div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div>
I can only imagine wearing this with a pair of brown cords and I love it hahaha.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1K_SkwiRkfcI_8LZljfbZhBnb7RthyTMt_TTLOH4Ki_mMOrhYOa5Bd4DrkPK4l2GFgPy9IdBPqU6edLCNFNXvEJcklTODebVY5qKvoW6JJbfdrAe6DtvhCirhJcuLPV6E5UC-A1w9RyqZ/s1600/cnt_wk4_2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1K_SkwiRkfcI_8LZljfbZhBnb7RthyTMt_TTLOH4Ki_mMOrhYOa5Bd4DrkPK4l2GFgPy9IdBPqU6edLCNFNXvEJcklTODebVY5qKvoW6JJbfdrAe6DtvhCirhJcuLPV6E5UC-A1w9RyqZ/s1600/cnt_wk4_2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The polishes used for this were BarryM Gelly Mustard, BarryM Gelly Paprika, and Essence Wanna say hello. The mustard base is awesome - the formula on the BarryM Gelly polishes still has not disappointed me, and its such a fantastic colour for autumn. Paprika goes great with Mustard too - the Autumn Gellys are the best set I've seen, colour wise. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Essence Wanna say hello was stamped over the mustard base using MoYou London Sailor 05 plate, and the Paprika was painted on using one of thin nail art brushes bought from Born Pretty store (<a href="http://www.bornprettystore.com/acrylic-nail-paint-drawing-brush-p-465.html" target="_blank">this set</a>, in fact).</div>

I'm really cheesed off about this week - I did have an awesome monochrome 60s geometric mani done, I even wore it to work for a week.... then I forgot I hadn't photographed it and took it off to do my nails for a night out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I realised I'd not actually done any photos I could have actually kicked myself - it took ages to do all the taping and painting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOO4C54t3L0fAvjYv215nftJZ__8009rPGrXhfobewo7kJcejbCGRGD9-1f0vTaSd32ccLhNfuR1vLh8lEr6Ue61SV-9n0Od5ZY5K3JfYFYdhyhk5TpLCjh3Aufcp25AmlfuqdMu-Dadh8/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOO4C54t3L0fAvjYv215nftJZ__8009rPGrXhfobewo7kJcejbCGRGD9-1f0vTaSd32ccLhNfuR1vLh8lEr6Ue61SV-9n0Od5ZY5K3JfYFYdhyhk5TpLCjh3Aufcp25AmlfuqdMu-Dadh8/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a4.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I then remembered that I'd just gotten the three new matte Silks from the BarryM winter release and I was busting to try out Forest. How could I resist?<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGI-Nd6Ib86ebvk4b3knEGXIehNWrpa4Ct_nOmVAxJc6HCsV27HSSC2XmAxymsymfFNFh_pItmYndNNxUQrlH97YLsZw1wDxlhubepgj5QfFziRK6w-Ddq3R4uFZ-X20wQNlMQDvd4skMB/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGI-Nd6Ib86ebvk4b3knEGXIehNWrpa4Ct_nOmVAxJc6HCsV27HSSC2XmAxymsymfFNFh_pItmYndNNxUQrlH97YLsZw1wDxlhubepgj5QfFziRK6w-Ddq3R4uFZ-X20wQNlMQDvd4skMB/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a3.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Forest is a beautiful dark teal colour and dries to a gorgeous matte finish like the rest of the silks range. A lot of people aren't massively fond of this finish but I love it to bits. The three silk polishes that have been released for autumn / winter 14 have a bit more of a slight shimmer to them than the pale pastel silks that were released around easter, but that may simply be more noticeable due to the richer, darker jewel tones that have been released.<br />
<br />
This silk also has a little hidden secret that sometimes show up in the bottle, but mainly shows up if you topcoat ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJC8xAxcHd6SVyEr3T2cbRx4mKD_vHT40tp1elM7vRse77H8fDxj_UuUp1SJjpDb1ehRf0qohztyidUDE19mEsGAPzwVYxpSkpNuOypoDRd0kfZteyDc0ALVSWf0mmd5zKlSq2pTkzT1CP/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJC8xAxcHd6SVyEr3T2cbRx4mKD_vHT40tp1elM7vRse77H8fDxj_UuUp1SJjpDb1ehRf0qohztyidUDE19mEsGAPzwVYxpSkpNuOypoDRd0kfZteyDc0ALVSWf0mmd5zKlSq2pTkzT1CP/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a1.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Purple duochrome! The teal shifts sharply though blue straight to purple once top coated, making this such a surprising polish.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoCK88EBO7qX1OQPunaMQ7GJirFvu4YFUIo4n6CM4tNXv-SUX-c70Yy7BHmZJODjqqKbzblcyWXdUt_RRNZTQ7WruU2v-G_KHv6VM37wnB_yvsHpjdtsaqhZCLGqbT5Sr-suHrcmjhtDKk/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoCK88EBO7qX1OQPunaMQ7GJirFvu4YFUIo4n6CM4tNXv-SUX-c70Yy7BHmZJODjqqKbzblcyWXdUt_RRNZTQ7WruU2v-G_KHv6VM37wnB_yvsHpjdtsaqhZCLGqbT5Sr-suHrcmjhtDKk/s1600/cnt_52_wk3_a2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Plus it looks fantastic with a glossy coat over the top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
My nails aren't really long enough for 3 colour gradients at the moment - I cut them right back when I went on holiday at the end of august and they've been quite slow in growing. I also have quite short nail beds, so its not the best.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Instead of a 3 colour gradient including pink, I went for a pink ombre - I have far more pinks than I thought I did!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
For my pink ombre, the polishes I used were:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Thumb - OPI Sweet Heart</li>
<li>Pointer - Nails Inc Warwick Aveue</li>
<li>Middle - Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset</li>
<li>Ring - Nails Inc Hertford Street</li>
<li>Pinky - Ciate Cocktail Dress</li>
</ul>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Also featured in this weeks pics is my new go-to top coat - I'd read loads of reviews of quick dry topcoats all over the web that mention INM's Out The Door as a fantastically quick drying topcoat, but as INM aren't sold in the UK I despaired in ever finding a bottle. TK Maxx is proving to be a wonderful treasure trove for finding beauty items that aren't usually found this side of the pond.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
To add a bit of flair to the simple ombre look, I added a stamp from MoYou Gothic plate 04 on to my ring finger and finished it off with a plain black rhinestone. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think the pale pink - OPI Sweet Heart - is far too pale for my skin, but I love the girly look of the pink ombre. What do you guys think?</div>

<br />
The prompts for the first week of the challenge are teal and 2 colour gradient. This being a pick and mix challenge, we get to mix up these prompts and use one or the other prompts - or both!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9m4JKDD2OFngJ2xCe9eALEnxXiu5yxcCD7qf0vawwdPTV36BKjFWArG6-dQ33q2hK651ztx5ShmMAMoPLTDo50hQ5HLAzVbuF2jCxKxl-Q07w30JCDQz-0KdByUYEDfyNUhvGWapINT3z/s1600/cnt_52_wk1_a1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9m4JKDD2OFngJ2xCe9eALEnxXiu5yxcCD7qf0vawwdPTV36BKjFWArG6-dQ33q2hK651ztx5ShmMAMoPLTDo50hQ5HLAzVbuF2jCxKxl-Q07w30JCDQz-0KdByUYEDfyNUhvGWapINT3z/s1600/cnt_52_wk1_a1.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
For my first mani this week I used a base of Elevation Polish Mutzagh Ata, a beautiful teal holo. Photos here show two coats with topcoat<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRQ6_U4AwVxCeR3Kk29sryD54gPI8SRpFNVNwPlRDXm_CqydIx87Q7Dp-SACz2b5GOrgJrOk6VheFHrEn-4bx10xhzO1hVmpSZ3FtUXnJ0f1dH2A5UFuvmp6MLoOCZoOv8BPIsHolIC4ej/s1600/cnt_52_wk1_a2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRQ6_U4AwVxCeR3Kk29sryD54gPI8SRpFNVNwPlRDXm_CqydIx87Q7Dp-SACz2b5GOrgJrOk6VheFHrEn-4bx10xhzO1hVmpSZ3FtUXnJ0f1dH2A5UFuvmp6MLoOCZoOv8BPIsHolIC4ej/s1600/cnt_52_wk1_a2.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Rather than just a straight up gradient with another colour, I opted for a different colour in glitter. You can never have too many sparkles. The glitter here is Orly Halo, which is a mix of gold and sliver glitter in varying sizes. Halo was released as part of Orly's Christmas 2012 collection, and is super sparkly and glittery - perfect for the winter season! To achieve the glitter gradient, I used a makeup sponge to gently sponge the glitter on to the tips of my thumb, middle and ring finger nails, building up coverage towards the tips.<br />

Its been a long time since I posted here, and life has been incredibly hectic. I have only advice for any younger readers out there - being an adult isn't all its cracked up to be! Stupid jobs and houses and bills.<br />
<br />
I've pledged to make a little more time for myself though, and that means more time to paint nails! I'll be starting The Crumpet's 52 <b>WEEK</b> Pick-n-Mix challenge next week, which means that there will hopefully be content at least weekly for the next year! This is the longest challenge I've ever done, so I'll have plenty to post about in the next 12 months.<br />

<br />
For years I actually refused to read Harry Potter, I can't remember why. When I did get round to it, I have to be completely honest and say that I really could not stand 2/3rds of the main characters. But I persevered and read all of them, and from considerable thought on this topic I can definitely would (like to) be in Ravenclaw. I even own an official Ravenclaw silk house tie. I loveses it so.<br />
<br />
So it was safe to say that when I bought China Glaze Frostbite and one of the new Maybelline glitter toppers - Bronze me up! - this weekend, I had to use them together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim0ZF-fYuHcgA20Kd4QkwRabRBtz3b5Rnl9m9JokOsM4J81Dy7C0L_p7GRKXHE4S-kW5BoTBgJJHdvJBOZHp8LvvUpV46_hReTakgBXtr9FPoLeMycewwmV37lTGnG3-wbzkKcNzVbLDGJ/s1600/012514a.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim0ZF-fYuHcgA20Kd4QkwRabRBtz3b5Rnl9m9JokOsM4J81Dy7C0L_p7GRKXHE4S-kW5BoTBgJJHdvJBOZHp8LvvUpV46_hReTakgBXtr9FPoLeMycewwmV37lTGnG3-wbzkKcNzVbLDGJ/s1600/012514a.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Frostbite is a super bright blue frost polish that is super eye-catching. The colour is super saturated, but the formula on the polish itself was quite sheer but it evened out quite nicely in 3 coats.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBvy1cmB7VnJpGOo-A6N8zfgFhAwbz-lqP0PBq-9wnPyTK1ucw7QXvbmU0-ZSLGTAvnU9T0Cq-ITuKml4ubigYsur-EKzr2AtTSx1m90PYcFI78hwig82_YHSjMey-ZbBIQ3rHRSINAjGr/s1600/012514c.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBvy1cmB7VnJpGOo-A6N8zfgFhAwbz-lqP0PBq-9wnPyTK1ucw7QXvbmU0-ZSLGTAvnU9T0Cq-ITuKml4ubigYsur-EKzr2AtTSx1m90PYcFI78hwig82_YHSjMey-ZbBIQ3rHRSINAjGr/s1600/012514c.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The colour is so bright and so very blue I totally couldn't resist it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIOktBV6KqjXOcGe_TsG93AlrFtoSCWV4ObkmwOlqDyJVkAdFJK-drq4J7HSy8htQpLxn-noAGU2Rx88LcVs_JocEIXIlC0z7HYChbe5qTcCywN-78LljsdBnI1aNNMmZD8Rf_xvLscCFK/s1600/012514d.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIOktBV6KqjXOcGe_TsG93AlrFtoSCWV4ObkmwOlqDyJVkAdFJK-drq4J7HSy8htQpLxn-noAGU2Rx88LcVs_JocEIXIlC0z7HYChbe5qTcCywN-78LljsdBnI1aNNMmZD8Rf_xvLscCFK/s1600/012514d.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I decided to test out my new bottle of Bronze Me Up from the Maybelline Stripped Nudes collection. Bronze Me Up is a fairly simple glitter mix - bronze hexes of medium and micro size in a clear base, with just enough glitter to not swamp anything you put on underneath.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmOv8rb3L_-9yU1Wn8sy9_BMOxtkGeqb_2I9c5Z-ScB2rn8Pnza0_gk9uN82uM8rSWuVGFoY90bVr0fHqbdbxUccreqFFw4JMlbFKjzRz5Ljf2a9WsWzHcZjtn1kQ88bQXqT4pj8wn4irJ/s1600/012514b.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmOv8rb3L_-9yU1Wn8sy9_BMOxtkGeqb_2I9c5Z-ScB2rn8Pnza0_gk9uN82uM8rSWuVGFoY90bVr0fHqbdbxUccreqFFw4JMlbFKjzRz5Ljf2a9WsWzHcZjtn1kQ88bQXqT4pj8wn4irJ/s1600/012514b.png" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is just one coat of Bronze me up over 3 coats of Frostbite, topped with one coat of Deborah Lippmann Addicted to Speed fast drying topcoat. Addicted to Speed is totally my go-to fast drying topcoat at the minute, its so fast, doesn't come out all super thick like Seche Vite but still leaves my nails well protected and super shiny. Just a shame it's well expensive - I can only find it for £18 a bottle on Google shopping, although I managed to snag mine in TkMaxx as part of a set that was 3 polishes for £15. Bargain.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18074760825560196658noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385072856915954507.post-58174657370436390312014-01-26T21:43:00.000+00:002014-01-26T21:43:33.834+00:00Here be Dragons...Having this weekend off polish making has actually given me time to paint my nails, and thus there will actually be some posts in the next week or so!<br />
<br />
These nails were actually what I wore to work last week - quickly thrown together on sunday night before bed, with the colours being picked by Mr Painted Claws.<br />
<br />

<br />
Base is Nails Inc New York Noir - since I got this as a freebie in Glamour magazine a month or two ago this has been my absolute best black polish. Its actually a little devastating that I've only got two bottles as its so much better than the other black polishes I've used. The only one I've found that comes close is Sinful Colors Black on Black.<br />
<br />
The edge highlights are A England Dragon on my pointer, middle and pinky and Models Own Bronze Rage on my ring finger.<br />

<br />
I present to you all - R&R Lacquers...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqVNEx2hdFFK92RVkdPHcsI9Pzez4IMwEBZnqzyuSKspbx9EMHXyu0v6765SVzQvUSC-U0UwJYxNBb4DnOHJSz4adU-mQ2PRTTXUlK_kUh-Ntnmi6NN_PHHapqrFpT_M3Nz3_TXVRz7C99/s1600/logo_prototypesmaller.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="R&R Lacquers" border="0" height="156" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqVNEx2hdFFK92RVkdPHcsI9Pzez4IMwEBZnqzyuSKspbx9EMHXyu0v6765SVzQvUSC-U0UwJYxNBb4DnOHJSz4adU-mQ2PRTTXUlK_kUh-Ntnmi6NN_PHHapqrFpT_M3Nz3_TXVRz7C99/s320/logo_prototypesmaller.png" title="R&R Lacquers" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Rachael of <a href="http://rachosnaillove.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Racho's Nail Love</a> and I have decided to try and start our own range of handmade polishes, and thus we have spent the last 4 weekends covered in glitter and pigment and surrounded by many many prototypes. My living room now looks like it hosts a weekly meeting of fairies. So glitter, many sparkle!<br />
<br />
We've finally pared them down in to a six polish collection we'll be releasing at the end of the month (ish) so stay tuned for more info. or alternatively visit our <a href="http://instagram.com/randrlacquers" target="_blank">Instagram</a>, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/randrlacquers" target="_blank">Facebook</a> or <a href="https://twitter.com/RandRLacquers" target="_blank">Twitter</a> for more information and sneaky peeks!<br />
<br />
2013 has been an experience - this time last year I think I had maybe 8 nail polishes and no nail art brushes or anything. I don't really know what started me off, although mostly I credit Rachael because she was the one who pushed on in to blogging about it (Thank you Rach!).<br />
<br />
I've managed to amass quite the stash of polish and try loads of delightful manis this year, and hopefully 2014 will just mean more and more!<br />
<br />
I don't make New Years Resolutions, except to continue existing for another year which I always seem to be rather good at (after all, I've made it this far!), but there are a few things I want to do this year in terms of the blog. These mainly consist of blogging more consistently and trying to better my photography.<br />
<br />
One more thing - Is there anything you guys would like to see? You're the ones that read the blog after all, so its only fair to ask what you'd like.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18074760825560196658noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385072856915954507.post-4672040980167622202013-12-24T12:00:00.000+00:002013-12-24T12:00:05.253+00:00Nub Club - Tree in the SnowI'm trying to pack the nub nail art in before Christmas, and this was something I was intending to do on my larger nails before my de-clawing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV34d-LXZ3YjjIcB1t5tjnYUFpisu6nlA8S0_oyL5KuDdpDbABdb8gJk8kGPn4nqxheDHqnXl8HzG-gc4B-FJCjMUyeen1RSS_4V1b0Jq94g4IB_NWChMO1W8nl33fY6H9JJHS7D8w6ZwG/s1600/nub2_2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV34d-LXZ3YjjIcB1t5tjnYUFpisu6nlA8S0_oyL5KuDdpDbABdb8gJk8kGPn4nqxheDHqnXl8HzG-gc4B-FJCjMUyeen1RSS_4V1b0Jq94g4IB_NWChMO1W8nl33fY6H9JJHS7D8w6ZwG/s320/nub2_2.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Little Christmas tree!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>This was a super easy tape mani, with the base done in Revlon Powder Puff. Powder Puff is an amazing slightly off white matte polish that has a gorgeous hidden blue shimmer - you can see it in the bottle in the picture above.<br />
<br />
With Powder Puff down as a base, I used a fast drying gloss topcoat - at the minute I'm using a Deborah Lippmann topcoat that I got from TK Maxx on the cheap - and let that dry enough to use scotch tape to mark off the deep chevron on my ring finger. That was painted over with another Revlon Matte polish, this time Emerald City which is also currently all over my PC tower and carpet as I knocked the open bottle over the other day! Full on devastated.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibHJwNeVd7H97Qo1IPHGIbQJ0nggry_CnpMLLiUJbwG8kf2pbyrwWN61p1kojI5rQQ-uk8sNQAvqRoYlmiRBNtanAm_fsQLIGU40Kv5l8jk0aMXHneZHNm8HTXCPSHexUOZq3cdsuwajBl/s1600/nub2_1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibHJwNeVd7H97Qo1IPHGIbQJ0nggry_CnpMLLiUJbwG8kf2pbyrwWN61p1kojI5rQQ-uk8sNQAvqRoYlmiRBNtanAm_fsQLIGU40Kv5l8jk0aMXHneZHNm8HTXCPSHexUOZq3cdsuwajBl/s320/nub2_1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Once the tree was dry I used one of tiny nail art brushes to pint on tinsel and another teeny dab of topcoat to stick on the gold stud for the start at the top of the tree. I do actually have star shaped studs, but they're fairly large and if I'd have used that then there'd be no room on my nail for any tree!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH_Mx-RECuWYoafLYCBVOkdptusQRJdGOXR6o0R33RUTMr6vYrR4hokqcAwSvMEY0X4teR5qSK54acg3ID0zlikmKn9tntYXIkME7ux5IYb3E3Ywds22BbXGOia9TA6G78bPla8tnJq25s/s1600/nub2_3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH_Mx-RECuWYoafLYCBVOkdptusQRJdGOXR6o0R33RUTMr6vYrR4hokqcAwSvMEY0X4teR5qSK54acg3ID0zlikmKn9tntYXIkME7ux5IYb3E3Ywds22BbXGOia9TA6G78bPla8tnJq25s/s320/nub2_3.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Looking good? I love the base for this mani and the single nail art keeps the look nice and clean, I think.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18074760825560196658noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385072856915954507.post-69522735826532154492013-12-22T17:33:00.000+00:002013-12-22T17:33:33.529+00:00Nub Club - Christmas ReindeerA few weeks ago I bought some gorgeous little deer charms from <a href="http://www.she-sells-seashells.co.uk/" target="_blank">She Sells Seashells</a>, but there was one little problem - my talons were (at the time) too big for them! I was devastated. The poor things would have just looked completely lost on my nails.<br />
<br />
So the nail breakage was kinda good, as it means I can finally get my cute little (rein)deers on to my nails!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: left;">
The base for this mani is OPI's I'm Not Really a Waitress, a super metallic red that's great for Christmas. Two coats give full coverage, and the plus side with nails this size is that two coats is barely any polish at all! I could get used to this level of polish usage compared to my last set of talons!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The middle finger was stamped with a couple of the smaller snowflakes from MoYou London Festive plate 02 - this plate is great for everyone as it has a huge range of snowflake sizes on the one plate and covers everything from humongous flakes to teeny little delicate ones.<br />

The ring finger was marked off with striping tape and striped over the middle with Sinful Colors Snow Me White, left to dry and then top coated with Deborah Lippmann fast drying topcoat. I placed the deer on before the topcoat had time to set fully, and then top coated again over the nail to seal the deer in properly.<br />
<br />
The smaller size of my nails has meant painting this mani took about half the time it normally does! I could definitely get used to this...</div>

<br />
Stupid car door snapping my nails.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikITarqK_f9iWV_1mf3ouFQElRuCjLFMbAXoL6uNxq6xtIsVXeneRVYJ02iNpr9LhlrBBNQXuACkJedLf2YS8oaEhqzIiG7b2eNV7uytq8vWRPLSNkU51fqAIPVHkk_h3gvQb-GH-4CBK0/s1600/nub1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikITarqK_f9iWV_1mf3ouFQElRuCjLFMbAXoL6uNxq6xtIsVXeneRVYJ02iNpr9LhlrBBNQXuACkJedLf2YS8oaEhqzIiG7b2eNV7uytq8vWRPLSNkU51fqAIPVHkk_h3gvQb-GH-4CBK0/s320/nub1.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Please ignore the slightly blue tinted nail beds - its a bit chilly in here and I have totally poor circulation!</span></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Now, at first I was devastated - how am I supposed to do super festive nail art on those tiny things!? Then I realised - some people have their nails this short as a choice or by necessity. Why should they not be able to see what nail art looks like on their neat little nails? Also, I've finally got nails small enough to use all those little decorative bits I've got squirreled away.<br />
<br />
So, for the next month or so, welcome to the <b>Nub Club</b>, nail art on neater nails.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18074760825560196658noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385072856915954507.post-77450033342446869522013-12-16T15:00:00.000+00:002013-12-20T16:27:54.224+00:00Armed and Ready ... to stamp!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've been pretty good in December - I put myself on a no buy last pay day (22nd Nov) and I can honestly say I've not bought <i>anything.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Mr Painted Claws, on the other hand, saw me looking longingly at the Essie that is the base colour for this mani and promptly informed me that he couldn't let me go home without it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
This is Essie Armed and Ready - three coats for smoothness, but my nails are a bit talon-y at the moment so it may take less for normal nails - topped with a stamp from MoYou London Pro Plate 14, a lovely delicate set of flowers and foliage.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCeRHqXh9gHnI54c8Spb7bXU0YfI0uYy2dnMcx9vCq_6YsZwWwCy4JkvpDq3geyhR3Tjtj2KOk9ddW90vxt99uo5eME4dCqNsCoS-U2p7rqSZAsi2l3aBZfI__WzFPQ27VRiFLv2DuaQck/s1600/pro14_4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCeRHqXh9gHnI54c8Spb7bXU0YfI0uYy2dnMcx9vCq_6YsZwWwCy4JkvpDq3geyhR3Tjtj2KOk9ddW90vxt99uo5eME4dCqNsCoS-U2p7rqSZAsi2l3aBZfI__WzFPQ27VRiFLv2DuaQck/s320/pro14_4.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Stamping is so good for a quick and impressive statement - I was asked if my two stamped nails were wraps at work - and these MoYou London plates just produce amazing images. The studs are from a stud wheel I bought aaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago off eBay, however you can buy stud just about anywhere now - I know Born Pretty Store do loads of different ones.</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I love Armed and Ready as a base colour and the only thing I've seen even close to its colour is the <a href="http://kittyspaintedclaws.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/swatched-mua-stormy-skies.html" target="_blank">MUA polish Stormy Skies</a> but that is a much darker gray (almost black) under the gold shimmer. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What do you guys think? Do you like the base or the stamping? </div>

There was one in particular that I lusted after in this collection - My Cherry Amour. A beautiful deep magenta with not only a textured finish but a scattering of holo glitter, I knew I had to have it. Somehow.<br />
<br />
The problem was, when the polishes actually came out... no shops over here actually sold Nicole by OPI. And then Superdrug popped up its NOPI displays and I went in to paroxysms of joy. Until they filled the display with polishes and I saw we were a few months behind our pampered sisters across the pond in the US. So I was made to wait patiently, which I can tell you is no mean feat. But I was well rewarded when this eventually turned up in my local Superdrug...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgditex0B9pGWzKeWxeDhJSTdsVzaY6clzViDe35-nHjBpgsOHz_rcrw5XuWWg80r905_Zlbj5alZ8uXOPQtqWPHLzU_uedLOJv8C5FPKCwimzV3N9s2hhPqgVP3xZT4-0kN9AYzz9970hp/s1600/gumdrops2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgditex0B9pGWzKeWxeDhJSTdsVzaY6clzViDe35-nHjBpgsOHz_rcrw5XuWWg80r905_Zlbj5alZ8uXOPQtqWPHLzU_uedLOJv8C5FPKCwimzV3N9s2hhPqgVP3xZT4-0kN9AYzz9970hp/s320/gumdrops2.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
I have to admit I'm late to the textured finish party, mainly because when all the other textured polishes came out in the summer I was terrified that I would constantly snag them on my tights and thus I would go through even more pairs than I usually do. I'm sure that, in a parallel universe, there is a world full of tights that want me tried for genocide.<br />
<br />
So I put off the textured polishes until winter, when my poor abused tights would be safe from their possible predations and thus my (so far) dismal winter has been brightened by this absolute beauty.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1lS0deJ6Tk6TdKIyN5iBvNZ_0kWVOMhf57-pnQIq9VoOgaoy1oUQPZhR1sS-Q_Tcktc5EIHOKL0ackNi4nRmWLwho_katYUjV2DhrWERC5UtGr5UpE-e3yqZfmw4NqHyjC6C2N2sR80OF/s1600/gumdrops3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1lS0deJ6Tk6TdKIyN5iBvNZ_0kWVOMhf57-pnQIq9VoOgaoy1oUQPZhR1sS-Q_Tcktc5EIHOKL0ackNi4nRmWLwho_katYUjV2DhrWERC5UtGr5UpE-e3yqZfmw4NqHyjC6C2N2sR80OF/s320/gumdrops3.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My Cherry Amour is all that I hoped it to be - the formula was amazing, opaque in two coats and fast drying as all textured and matte polishes seem to be. The colour is an absolute show stopper, so bold and saturated and made even more intense by the tiny particles of holo sparkle that lurk in the texture, glittering madly when you move your hand.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWaftxrXatFI3aL5kpWnAFYxZdkV70lYmn-RbkbGzx5xvSwhKW2YKjK-VUDrwuONN8EXAm5CPOFadfbUWLTqDxOXYK8hlShEqZJUFefyuK7wP2lWc2kK_tU3OAecrIywM1mUigWX_pNQ2C/s1600/gumdrops1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWaftxrXatFI3aL5kpWnAFYxZdkV70lYmn-RbkbGzx5xvSwhKW2YKjK-VUDrwuONN8EXAm5CPOFadfbUWLTqDxOXYK8hlShEqZJUFefyuK7wP2lWc2kK_tU3OAecrIywM1mUigWX_pNQ2C/s320/gumdrops1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I then, in a moment clearly drunk on glitter and polish fumes, wondered if this could perhaps be made... sparklier?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdzfqd6psByQddMIqOsQO-NEhWaf5UQwLvLxw5IzVktTSRb1xY5Bk_BmuksALxKmir5iNS-6Din0subKF8EZrujcz3xJyDgQpfFfJCjHlsM5zP8LrOnNJe13SZkPOGJYtZBG4-C4QXcwrc/s1600/gumdrops4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdzfqd6psByQddMIqOsQO-NEhWaf5UQwLvLxw5IzVktTSRb1xY5Bk_BmuksALxKmir5iNS-6Din0subKF8EZrujcz3xJyDgQpfFfJCjHlsM5zP8LrOnNJe13SZkPOGJYtZBG4-C4QXcwrc/s320/gumdrops4.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Short answer - <b>yes</b>. In the photo above and below I decided to go wild and cover my pointer and middle in regular topcoat, and my ring and pinky i matte topcoat.<br />
The gloss finish makes the holo sparkle even more sparkly, taking the pink from simply deep magenta to something juicy looking and fabulous.<br />
The matte, on the other hand (nail?) leave the sparkle subtle and calm, or at least as calm as this colour can get.<br />

I have, however, managed to get a few mani's done in between bouts of coughing my lungs up or other things and I nearly exploded with glee when I got my first MoYou London Festive plate for stamping.<br />
<br />
As you saw in the last post, I bought myself quite a few MoYou London stamping plates recently and I totally couldn't resist picking up one of the new Festive collection - specifically plate 02, the one with all the snowflakes. I'd put up a link directly to the plate but... its sold out. As it has been pretty much since it was released - it's been <b>that</b> popular.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<a name='more'></a>Base for this mani is Julep Miranda, a polish I got second-hand in a facebook Nail Sale group. Julep polishes are <b>so</b> hard to get in the UK, its terrible. I love Miranda though, its another variation on my favourite colour spectrum (green-blue) and it looked awesome under the white snowflakes.<br />

<br />
This is three coats of Miranda, stamped with MoYou London Festive Collection 02 with Sinful Colors Snow Me White (appropriate name!) and topped with Models Owen Jack Frost iridescent glitter to give the mani that icy sparkle. I got so many compliments on these at work, it was absolutely unreal!<br />

I've also now (thanks to <a href="http://rachosnaillove.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Rachael</a>!) managed to pick up Festive Collection 04 which has fall the tacky Christmas jumper prints on it, so I'm totally gonna get my use out of that in the coming weeks!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18074760825560196658noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385072856915954507.post-82874871382603986562013-11-21T23:03:00.003+00:002013-11-21T23:03:24.314+00:00In which I manage to stamp properly...Quick one for you all tonight - I think I've managed to "get" stamping.<br />

The stamp is <a href="http://www.moyou.co.uk/index.php/collections/princess-collection/nail-art-design-moyou-nail-art-image-plate-nail-stencils-collection-kit-set-princess-collection-11-xl-designs.html" target="_blank">MoYou London, Princess Collection 11</a>, which is an absolutely adorable plate. The images on it are etched so well, the fine details on the plates come out a dream! This was stamped using BarryM Foil Effects Silver and my new XL squishy stamper, which I find also helps pick the image up from the wonderfully detailed images on the plate. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you're thinking of trying stamping, or perhaps you've tried it before and haven't had so much luck, I'd efinately try the MoYou plates, they're so good and theres so many designs. I get the XL image plates as my nails are (at the moment) humongous, but even the regular sized stamps are good for more regular length nails. </div>

What does everyon think then? How do you get along with stamping?</div>

Sad, because I'm almost done, and excited because I totally can't wait to do Gen III in the new year! Stay tuned for more details in the next month on that one, but first - the last type group of the challenge, Steel.<br />
<br />
Steel was one of the new types introduced in Gen II, along with Dark, and its another of the types that I don't really use often. Some existing Gen I pokemon were retyped as dual-type to include steel, so I've gone for one of these this week...<br />

<a name='more'></a>The base for this mani is one of the freebies with this month's Glamour magazine, Nails Inc Soho Silver. At first I had issues with this polish's formula - on first try it was streaky and a little difficult on the nail - however at 3 coats it had leveled out beautifully and was so smooth and bright. I've seen others report that the gold in this set is also a little hard to deal with, so if you're thinking of picking these up I'd bear this in mind.<br />

<br />
Magnemite's magnets were done with striping tape and french tip guides, and painted in Rimmel Heart on Fire and Ciate Headliner for the two poles of the magnets. I quite like the look of he bi-coloured tips, might have to try them again some time.<br />
<br />
Magnemite's eye was done with the usual Sinful Colors Snow me White and Black on Black.<br />
